Located 20 miles west of Leavenworth, this is a good campground if you want to get back to nature. Nice walking trails located near the lake. Larger RV's and fifth wheels should use the north campground as the south campground has tighter turns and smaller sites. Limited sites available for larger RV's. It is a very popular park - we arrived at 4pm on the Friday of Columbus Day weekend, and we were lucky to get a site, let alone one that would accommodate our 40' RV. The sites on the outside of the loop have electric and water, and the sites on the inside of the loop are for dry camping. The electric / water sites are semi-circular pull-throughs and the turns on many of them are too tight for long RV's. The dump station located at the entrance is well designed and accommodates two RVs. We would give the park a higher rating if some of the low branches were cut back, and the pull-through sites were designed better for larger RVs. We would stay here again.
A small RV Park adjacent to the motel. On-site recycling bins, excellent Wi-Fi, cable TV, clean, and convenient to downtown Whitehorse. The owner is friendly and helpful, and the property is well managed. The water comes from a well so it contains some minerals that will stain your white clothes in the laundry if you don't use a water softener. The warning signs are well posted over the washing machines. Hookups for adjacent sites are on the same pedestal so one RV will need to drive into the site, or use an extension if they decide to back in. We stayed here in July and again on our return journey in September. The owner recognized us and welcomed us back. We stayed here in a 40' motorcoach and didn't have any issues. Parking may be challenging if you have a large RV and the park is full.
The site was level and we had sufficient room to maneuver. The owner's were very friendly, and the Wi-Fi and TV connections were the best we had in Alaska. The RV park also has a bar and provides a complimentary breakfast. The dump station is a little awkward to use since it is not a pull-through, but full hookup sites are also available. We enjoyed watching the salmon spawning and swimming upstream in the nearby creek. We would consider Bear Creek one of the better RV parks in the area and we would stay here again.
Easy access for Big Rigs. Free Wi-Fi, but it was spotty as it is in most campgrounds. The sites were spacious, reasonably level, and terraced into the side of the hill. Excellent view. The owners were helpful and friendly, and really take care of their property. They provided a lot of information about the locality upon arrival. And, of course, free ice cream at check-in. We camped here in our 40' Motorhome.
Access would be tight for a 45' motorhome. Beware the 50 amp designation, as it is really a 30 and 20 amp outlet with ground fault interrupters. If you have a motorhome or a trailer that can't plug into a ground fault outlet then you will not have electricity. We loved the trails and the bison herd. We camped here in a 40' Motorhome, but unfortunately we had no electricity on a hot and humid night. We would give a park a rating of 8 if we had a true 50 amp site.
